Day 85-87 Lares Trek

8/10-12

August 11th became a holiday in Japan--"mountain day"-- from this year, so I wanted to spend my 30th birthday in the mountains. I was first thinking of doing the Inka trail, but it was so popular that it was fully booked until October, so I found an alternative trek called Lares trek. Some people said it is actually better than Inka trail because there is less tourists and stone steps. I booked SAM travel because they had a nice review.

The 3 day trek was amazing. I trekked over 4800m for the first time in my life. I met amazing sceneries and people on my last 3 days such as massive glaciers, beautiful green lakes, many alpacas llamas and sheep, villages without any electricity, playing football with local kids, and an old woman weaving beautiful textiles (it takes one month to finish one). I was worried about altitude sickness, but it turned out fine except I had a slight headache when I ran down after the highest peak, but I felt ok the next morning.

It was a luxury trek with horses and cowboys who carries all our stuff and a chef who cooks the most amazing meals I've ever had.

On my birthday, they even baked a cake and celebrated with a dance and beer.

Lares hot springs were great!

Thank you so much Asami, for joining me all the way from Japan. Thank you everyone for always caring for me and helping me out. And thanks to my parents for raising me healthy enough to make this trip come true and sending me off even if they are so worried about me. No matter how old I get, I'll be responsible for myself, never forget to be thankful, and keep on living my own life.
