Day 295-301 Back to USA
キューバからメキシコ経由でアメリカ・サンフランシスコへ戻ってきた。
アメリカに着いて感動したのは紙をトイレに流せること、接客の人の愛想のいいこと、英語が通じること。同時に物価の高さにも驚愕した。キューバで1枚60円だったピザが、ここでは30倍以上するのでお札を持つ手が震えた。
I came back to San Francisco via Mexico.
What impressed me in US is that you can flush the paper in the toilet, the customer service is so nice and helpful, and everyone speaks English. But also I was shocked how everything was so expensive. I was having a 60 cent pizza in Cuba few days ago, and now it costs 30 times more.
ここに来たのには訳がある。思い出の場所で家族と再会することになったのだ。母の友人であるメリアンのお宅に泊めてもらい、家族の到着を待つ。
家族とは実に10ヶ月ぶりに会った。
The reason why I came back here, is to have a reunion with my family. My Japanese family and my American family.
I stayed at My mom's friend's house and waited for my family to arrive. She came all the way to the airport to pick me up, and let me stay at her house. Thank you so much Maryann!!
20年以上前に家族でお世話になっていたアレトン一家と再会。わたしは昨年の夏に一ヶ月間お世話になっていたので、8ヶ月ぶりの再会。いつでも家族のようにわたしたちを迎えてくれる温かい一家。わたしの旅もいつも自分ごとのように応援してくれている。
I hadn't seen my family for 10 months, Ever since I left Japan.
Then we went to our American family's home, where we used to live more than 20 years ago. I was so touched as they welcomed us as a family again. I was staying at their home last summer, and they have always followed my journey ever since.
和食を一緒に作って食べたり、海までドライブしたり、思い出話に花を咲かせながらのんびりした時間を過ごした。
We had a great time sharing our memories, cooking, eating, and driving together.
わたしたち家族のためにパーティを開いてもらって、わたしの旅をずっと応援してくれていたみなさんに旅の報告会もさせてもらうことになった。大量の写真を選びながら、これまでの旅を振り返った。たった8ヶ月の間なのに、本当にたくさんのことがありすぎて、選りすぐったつもりでも400枚の超大作になってしまった。2時間に及ぶスライドショーだったが、合間に質問やツッコミを入れつつ、みんな最後まで楽しんで聴いてくれてほっとした。
They even threw a party for us, and invited many people we wanted to see. I did a slideshow about my journey, and I was happy that everyone seemed to enjoy it though it was super massive 400 slides for two hours. I went through my pictures and surprised to see how much I have been through in only eight months.
元祖ヒッピーのふさこさん＆ミノさんとも再会。あと5分タイミングがずれていたら会えなかったであろう奇跡。
We also had a reunion with Fusako and Mino. We couldn't have seen them if we were 5 minutes earlier.
アメリカでの一週間は懐かしくて温かくて、夢のような時間だった。
本当にアレトン家のみなさんには感謝しても感謝しきれないほどお世話になっている。
It was such a great time full of love and kindness. I don't know how to thank the Areton family for everything they have done for me and my family.
旅も終わりに近づいている。ひと月半後、無事に日本で再会できることを願って、家族と別れた。
My journey is going towards the end.
I said goodbye to my family, hoping to see them soon in Japan.
