Day 196-197 Chiloe #2

ウニで頭がいっぱいのわたし。午前中だったらウニがあるかもしれないということでがんばって早起きをしてカストロへ向かう。
カストロの市場に到着し、ウロウロと周ってみたけどウニがない…ない……あった！と思ったら3日前にとれたやつらしい。お腹が空いたのでとりあえず隣のお店の生ガキを食べる。おいしいけど小さい…。どうしてもウニを諦めきれず、結局古いのを買う。12個で2000ペソ。そして買っていたらもう一人ウニを探している男の子がやってきた。話しかけたらやっぱり日本人だった。日本人はウニが好きです。ふたりでセビチェを食べながら話す。ちなみにこのマリスコス（貝）のセビチェがプリプリで貝のだしが出ていてめちゃくちゃおいしかった。たぶん南米料理の中でトップ3に入ると思う。

I left early to look for sea urchin. I arrived in Castro, and searched for it but I could only find old ones. I was hungry so I had some oysters, but I couldn't give up the sea urchin and ended up buying the old ones. When I was buying another boy came. He was also looking for sea urchins. He was certainly a Japanese. We ate ceviche together. Actually, this clam ceviche was one of the best things I've ever had in South America.

 

カストロの街をフラフラ。世界遺産のひとつである教会や海辺にあるカラフルな家々。

The town of Castro. The church is one of the world heritage. It is also famous for the colorful houses along the coast.

2時頃にダルカウエへ戻る。同じ道を帰ったのだけど、行きの時には気付かなかったかわいい家々や雪をかぶった対岸の山など、新たな発見と感動があった。

I headed back to Dalcahue. It was the same road, but I didn't realize there were so many beautiful mountains.

 

チロエ島もまた手工芸品が有名で、どこの町にも必ずお土産やさんがあり、毛糸のセーターやカゴなどがところ狭しと並んでいる。お値段もお手頃。変なボールペンとヘアバンドを買った。

Chiloe is also famous for art crafts, and you can find many handmade wool sweaters and baskets in reasonable prices.

 

キャンプ場に戻ってウニを処理する。トゲトゲのおかげで袋が破れてあらゆるものが汚染されました。そしてあれだけ重くてかさばっていた12個のウニは中身を取り出すとコレだけに…ウニが高級な理由が少し分かった気がする。そしてカバンが非常にくさいです。やっぱり古いウニはだめです。

I cleaned the sea urchins. Thanks to their spikes, the bag was ripped and everything was in a mess. And after cleaning, the twelve heavy balls turned into this.

 

7時前にアンジェが迎えに来てくれて、おうちへ。カニグラタンを作ってくれた。チュペと言ってホワイトソースを使わずに、玉ねぎニンニクパプリカを炒めてから牛乳に浸したパンとカニ身と混ぜ合わせ、チーズをかけてオーブンで焼く。おいしくてたくさん食べた。
ユキちゃんはプリンを作ってきてくれて、これまたおいしかったです。
おいしいごはん、楽しい会話、熱いシャワー、フカフカベッド。幸せです。ありがとう。

Ange came to pick me up and we went to her house. She made a delicous crab chuppe, like a gratin. Yuki made some pudding which was also very tasty.
Good food, fun time, hot shower, cozy bed. I'm so satisfied. Thank you Ange!!

 

11/30 Wed

アンジェにお礼を告げ、味噌汁を置き土産にして出発。再びカストロを通ったので、昨日入りそびれた教会へ。この教会、外観は黄色と紫という奇抜な配色で、しかもよく見るとトタンで出来た粗雑な造りなのだけど、中は木造でとても美しい…

という情報をネットで得たので入りたかったのだけど、12月末まで工事中とのことで残念ながら入れませんでした。
そして教会の前でチュロスを食べていたらお兄さんに捕まる。神を信じるかとか真実はひとつだけだと思うかとかいろいろ聞かれた。わたしは無宗教だし、しいて言えばわたしにとっては自然そのものが神だ。でもひとの数だけ宗教も神も真実もあっていいと思う、と答えた。人それぞれ違っているのは当たり前で、他人の考えや信条を尊重したいけど、それを押し付けられるのは嫌だし、自分もそうならないように気を付けたい。バイブルを渡されそうになったけど、荷物になるので丁重にお断りして、最後にお兄さんにお祈りされておわりました。

I thanked Ange and made some miso soup. I hope she likes it.
I passed through Castro again so I tried to get inside but it was unfortunately under construction until the end of December. This church appears very wacky, but inside is very nice everything made of wood- according to the internet.
A guy talked to me when I was eating churros in front of the church. He asked me if I believe in God, and if I think there is only one truth or not. I told him that I'm not religious, and the nature itself is sort of a so called God for me. I think everyone has their own belief, own god, and own truth, and I want to respect that, but I don't like it when people are forcing their beliefs to others, and I also need to be careful not to do the same.

He tried to give me a bible, but I didn't want to carry extra weight. He prayed for me and walked away.

 

つづいてカストロから25km走ったチョンチという港町へ。ここの教会もまた中が全て木造で、天井は星空になっていてかわいい。

25km from Castro, I arrived to a small town Chonchi. Inside this church is also all made of wood, and has a cute starry sky ceiling.

港のレストランでソパデマリスコスという貝がたくさん入ったスープとブルーベリービールをいただく。おいしくてもう完全に走る気なくなりました。

I went into a restaurant by the sea and had Sopa de mariscos and blueberry beer. It was so good that I'm done for today.

 

お腹いっぱいのホロ酔いチャリダーにはチロエの坂はいつにも増してキツく、おまけに向い風までサービスしてもらったので、5号線に合流してしばらくしたところでヒッチハイク。サーモンのトラックに拾ってもらいました。ドライバーのペドロは話好きであっという間にケジョンに到着。

The hills of Chiloe was even harder for a slightly drunk cyclist, especially combined with head wind. So I hitch hiked and got a ride from a salmon truck driver. He was very talkative and soon arrived to Quellon.

トラックに乗る前から荷台に何もガードがついていないのが不安だったのだけど、案の定ボトルが消えていました。あのボトルはアメリカで自転車やさんに入った際に、これから南米まで行くというわたしに「俺も南米に連れてってくれ」とお店のおじさんがプレゼントしてくれたものだったのです。まあ最近はちょっとコケむしてきてたけど、苦楽を共にしてきた大事なものだったので残念です。何かを得ると何かを失うってことでしょうか。はたまたヒッチハイクの呪いでしょうか。でもおじさん、ちゃんと南米に連れてきたからね。（そして置いてきたからね…）おじさんの想いは忘れません。ありがとう。

I was worried from the first time that his truck didn't have any walls on the bed, and I lost my water bottle. That bottle was a gift from a guy in the bike shop I went in the US. When I told him I'm going to South America, he gave me that bottle and said, "take me to South America". It was recently getting a bit mossy, but anyway it was special for me. I guess it's the curse of hitchhiking. But even if I lost that bottle, I won't forget his kindness. And I took him to South America!!

港に着いてフェリーの予約をしていたらまたフランス人カップルと再会。彼らも同じフェリーに乗るそう。スーパーで買い出しをし、夕日を眺めながらビールを飲んで出発時刻を待つ。

When I arrived to the port and making a reservation for the ferry, I met the French couple again. They are going to take the same ferry. I bought some food at the grocery store and watched the sunset with a can of beer.

 

ここからフェリーで20時間。プエルトシスネスに着いたらそこからわたしのアウストラル街道がはじまります。

After 20 hour sailing, I will arrive to Puerto Cisnes and that's the beginning of my Carettera Austral.
