Oregon Dunes KOA to Bullard State park

今日は忘れられない１日となった。

まず出発早々LisaとDaoとはぐれた。そしてそのまま各々キャンプ場で集結することに。

Seven Devil's Hill という坂はその名の通り悪魔のようにエグかった。

でもところどころある落書き？がステキ。特にこれが気に入った。

I will never forget today.

It didn't take time before I got lost with Lisa and Dao, so we decided to meet up at the campsite.

"Seven Devil's Hill" was a devilish hill for sure, but I liked the writings on the sidewalk.

坂の頂上でCesarというチャリダーに会った。彼は１０年ほど前にパタゴニアで責自さん（日本のチャリダー界では有名人）と一緒に走ったそう。そして１週間後にある家族の結婚式に間に合わせるためにメキシコ国境まで急いでいるそうだ。

On the top of the hill, I met a guy named Cesar. He told me he biked with a Japanese guy named Sekiji, who I actually knew. He said he is in a hurry because he has to make it to the border of Mexico in two weeks, for his family's wedding.

そして坂の上で出会ったものはもう一つあった。

なんとロードキルの鹿が道端にいた。すでに息絶えていたが、触ってみるとまだ温かい。どうしようか。ここで解体するか、でもすでに荷物は重いし、あと３０ｋｍ走らなければいけない。そしてキャンプ場に持って行ってドン引きされたらどうしよう。でもこのままにしておくのはもったいない。いろんな考えが頭をよぎる。

とりあえずLisaに電話してみた。

On the top of the hill, I also met a roadkilled deer. He was already dead, but it was still fresh. Mmm...what shall I do? I want to bring it, but it's heavy and I still have 30km left. And what happens if everyone doesn't like it?

I decided to call Lisa.

M "Hi Lisa, do you want deer?"

L "Beer? Yeah, I'll get a beer"

M "No, a deer. I mean meat."

L "........!?"

M "I just found a deer on the road, hit by a car. I used to hunt deer in Japan, so I know how to butcher it. It still looks fresh."

今路上で車にはねられた鹿を見つけたの。日本で鹿狩りをしていたから解体の仕方はわかるよ。まだ新鮮そう。

L "Oh...well...I don't think it's good, but I'll try it if you do that."

うーん、あんまりいいとは思えないけど、もしやるなら試してみるよ。

そんなわけでこうなりました。
